Sodium Carbonate Anhydrous, also known as soda ash or calcined soda readily soluble in water. It is the anhydrous (water-free) form of sodium carbonate.
Chemical Formula: Na₂CO₃
Appearance: A white granular powder.
Uses:
Glass Industry: It is used as a flux in glass manufacturing processes to lower the melting point of silica and facilitate glass formation. Also added to glass cleaning products to remove stains, grease, and dirt from windows, mirrors, and glassware.
pH Regulation: It acts as a pH regulator and buffering agent in chemical processes, such as water treatment and textile dyeing.
Precipitation Reagent: Generally used to precipitate metal ions from aqueous solutions in analytical chemistry and wastewater treatment.
Laundry Detergents: Included in laundry detergents as a builder to soften water, enhance cleaning efficiency, and remove mineral deposits from fabrics.
Water softening: It reacts with calcium and magnesium ions in hard water to form insoluble precipitates, removing them from the water and making it softer.
