Manganese Chloride tetrahydrate, also known as manganous chloride.  Absorbs moisture from the air and is highly soluble in water.

Chemical Formula: MnCl₂·4H₂O

Appearance: Pale pink to light rose-colored crystals or crystalline powder.

Uses:

  • Chemical Synthesis: It serves as a precursor or starting material for the synthesis of manganese-containing compounds. It is used in organic and inorganic chemical synthesis, coordination chemistry, and industrial processes to prepare manganese-based materials, catalysts, and reagents.

  • Catalysis: It is generally used to electroplate manganese coatings onto metal substrates through electrodeposition techniques. Manganese coatings provide corrosion resistance and decorative finishes to metallic surfaces.

  • Nutraceuticals: It may be incorporated into certain pharmaceutical formulations and nutritional supplements to provide supplemental manganese. These supplements can help maintain adequate manganese levels in the body and support overall health.

  • Additional Applications: In the textile industry, manganese chloride tetrahydrate is used as a mordant or fixing agent in dyeing processes.
