Calcium Stearate

Calcium Stearate is a calcium salt of stearic acid, a saturated fatty acid. It is commonly insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents such as alcohol and chloroform. Used as a lubricant, stabilizer, and anti-caking agent in industries.

Uses:

• Food Industry: They serve as emulsifiers, anti-caking agents, and lubricants in food products, including confectionery, bakery items, chewing gum, and powdered beverages. Calcium stearate helps prevent clumping, improve texture, and stabilize emulsions.

• Pharmaceuticals: Used in pharmaceutical tablet formulations as a lubricant and anti-adherent. It facilitates the release of tablets from molds and punches during manufacturing and prevents sticking or capping. Additionally, it may serve as a glidant to improve powder flow properties.

• Cosmetics and Personal Care Products: Calcium stearate is used in cosmetics and personal care products such as creams, lotions, powders, and lipsticks as a thickener, emulsifier, and texture enhancer.

• Plastics and Rubber Industry: In the plastics and rubber industry, calcium stearate is used as a lubricant, stabilizer, and processing aid during manufacturing processes such as extrusion, molding, and calendering.
