1,3-Butylene Glycol, also called butane-1,3-diol, meaning it has two hydroxyl functional groups (OH) attached to a four-carbon butane chain.

• Cosmetics and Personal Care Industry:  It is commonly used as a humectant and solvent in skincare products such as lotions, creams, moisturizers, and hair care products.

• Pharmaceuticals: 1,3-butylene glycol is used as a solvent for oral, injectable, and topical medications.

• Solvent: Due to its miscibility with water and organic solvents, it is used as a solvent in numerous industrial applications like paints and coatings.

• Food Additive: Used as a humectant (moisture-preserving agent) in specific food products.

• Antifreeze and Deicing Fluids: Its low freezing point allows it to be a component in antifreeze and deicing fluids.
