Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate (TSPP), also sometimes called sodium pyrophosphate or tetrasodium phosphate, is a versatile inorganic compound with  applications.
Chemical Formula: Na₄P₂O₇
Appearance: A white to light tan crystalline powder.
Uses:
Emulsifier: Helps stabilize emulsions (mixtures of oil and water) in food products like cheese, processed meats, salad dressings, and mayonnaise.
Thickener: It can also act as a thickener in some food applications.
Leavening Agent (Limited): Limited historical use as a leavening agent in some baked goods
Ceramic and glass Industry: Acts as a fluxing agent or stabilizer to lower melting point, improve homogeneity, and enhance mechanical properties of ceramic and glass materials.
Food Industry: It helps improve texture, enhance moisture retention, and maintain pH stability in food products.
Cleaning and Detergent Industry: TSPP is used in household and industrial cleaning products, such as dishwashing detergents, laundry detergents, and surface cleaners, as a chelating agent, builder, and water softener.
Antioxidant in Fuels: It helps prevent fuel degradation and engine deposits in automotive and industrial engines.
